A woman still
becoming herself

Honest writing from someone who is still figuring it out — and believes that is worth saying out loud.

Some lives follow a straight line. Mine never did — and I have stopped apologising for that.

I am Rajalakshmi — Lakshmi to most people. I have an MCA degree I worked hard for, a career in IT that stopped and started more times than I can count, and a passport full of stamps from countries where I tried to build something of my own.

Mumbai. Singapore. Sydney. Bangalore. Four cities. One recurring question: when does it become my turn?

I got married in 2008. I had children in 2018. In between I worked, relocated, worked again, stopped working, started again, and spent more years than I want to admit feeling financially dependent in a marriage while being thoroughly capable of earning my own way.

I am 43 now. I have started Sky Musings because I believe the story of people like me — educated, capable, interrupted — deserves to be told honestly. Not as a tragedy. Not as an inspiration story. Just honestly.

If you are a someone who took detours you did not plan, who is rebuilding in your 30s or 40s, who has lived between countries and between versions of yourself — this space is for you.

I am still figuring it out. I am writing about it as I go.
