A woman still
becoming herself

Honest writing from someone who is still figuring it out — and believes that is worth saying out loud.

Some lives follow a straight line. Mine never did — and somewhere along the way, I stopped apologising for it.

I am Rajalakshmi — Lakshmi to most people. I have an MCA degree I worked hard for, an IT career that stopped and started more times than I can count, and a passport full of stamps from countries where I tried to build something of my own.

Mumbai. Singapore. Sydney. Bangalore. Four cities. One recurring question: when does it become my turn?

I got married in 2008. I had children in 2018. In those ten years, I worked, relocated, stopped working, started again, and moved through more versions of my career than I can count. And yet, for more years than I care to admit, I found myself financially dependent within a marriage, even though I was perfectly capable of earning my own way.

I am in my 40s now. I have started Sky Musings because I believe the story of people like me — educated, capable, interrupted — deserves to be told honestly. Not as a tragedy. Not as an inspiration story. Just honestly.

If you are someone who took detours you didn’t plan, who is rebuilding in your 30s or 40s, who has lived between countries and between versions of yourself — this space is for you.

I am still figuring it out. I am writing about it as I go.
